CCTV Security Systems

If you own property you wish to keep protected from crime, closed circuit television can offer the best technology for the job. With an array of cameras and you can keep an eye on every inch of your property, and will have valuable evidence if the worst does happen. Here’s an introduction to using one of the CCTV security systems on the market today. First, decide where you want to use the cameras. Outside cameras require special housings to protect them from the elements, and different lenses for the unique lighting conditions. Light is of the utmost importance for CCTV security systems if the picture is washed out or too dark it’s like not having any cameras at all. An auto-iris system is the latest in CCTV technology, allowing cameras to adjust their lenses with changes in brightness.

Next, decide whether you want color or black and white cameras. The cost is about the same, and while black and white cameras work best for low light, the latest generation of high-def color models works almost as well with a generally clearer image. Finally, consider the refresh rate and storage systems you wish to use. A camera which takes 27 images a second (like a traditional video camera does) will require much more memory than one which takes 2 or 3 images a second. Nowadays most CCTV security systems are fully digital, so you will be saving the videos on your computer. A dedicated hard drive for this purpose is a wise investment.
